Memorial Bench is a work made in memory of my grandfather, who was born in 1917 in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The bench was a commissioned piece for a show marking the 100th year of the fall of the empire at the Austrian Cultural Forum London. Styled as a garden bench with a memorial sign engraved on it.
Before my grandfather died, he decided to donate his body to science. After his death, his body was taken by the medical university in Jerusalem and afterward buried in an unknown location. He has no grave known to me and his memory is completely gone. I wanted to create this memorial bench to give him a place in the world. I hope to donate this bench to a square in his hometown in what is now Poland.
